All Leads Life by FR13ND
Without a god to call out to, without a star to follow, the lost traveler sits on the side of the trail, struggling to enjoy time with their friends as the infinite incorrect paths forward play out in their subconscious. Religious doubts weigh heavily on FR13ND’s new album All Leads Life, a lament on the pain inflicted by religious institutions, all channeled into the struggle to move away from a religious life. Musically, the record leans on psychedelic folk and folk rock sounds to communicate the depths of the speaker’s spiraling doubts and frustrations. With the cleverly sparse usage of overwhelming, distorted crescendos, we follow the speaker to the brink, peering over the walls of a bottomless pit, staring nothingness in the face. At the last moment, a hand grabs ours to hold us back, a reminder of the friends who will guide us through this life as we find our path.
