Cells Impact by Easymind & oddeen

Anger sometimes shouts, sometimes thrashes, but a far more threatening version of malintent bubbles up slowly from beneath the surface. Rage generally motivates the mic in hip hop, but a far more menacing, brooding, pure negativity permeates the sound of Cells Impact by Easymind and oddeen. Incorporating lopsided jazz rap, bouncy deconstructed house, and murky dark ambient, this South Korean crew presents an alternative to rage rap by packing its relatively sparse lyrics with immense quantities of vitriol per square inch. By designing the beats to land extremely heavily upon individual lyrical lines, Easymind, oddeen, and their collaborators flip their deadpan delivery into close-fisted threats, the disconnect between content and delivery further putting hairs on end in a way that only spoken words of hatred could. -Michael
