Dance Roundup Week of 10/20

From experimental indietronica to one of the strangest disco records of all time, this week had a lot to offer for the dance floor! Check out some of the best underground dance releases of the week with us!

Silver EP by Of Norway

First up, Of Norway brings us a strong sample of their brand of club banger dance music with their new record Silver EP. This one maintains the four on the floor European style, but a mix of acoustic percussion and a wide variety of auxiliary elements help flesh out the songs beyond the standard techno formula.

La nuit qui vient sera belle by Marie France

Moving on, La nuit qui vient sera belle by Marie France definitely isn’t experimental, but it is an old school disco record made by an old French lady with a chihuahua. It was just too strange for us not to include it.

Mutationist EP by Destrata

Now for something completely different, Mutationist EP by Destrata cranks up the energy with its bassy club style, maintaining fast tempos and energetic percussion to instill an intense need to move.

Passerella II by Distant Echoes

Finally, Passerella II by Distant Echoes sees dance through a more experimental lens, cracking and reforming its grooves into something still broadly danceable but notably off-kilter from our standard club EDM formula. Slightly discordant synth leads snap us out of the trance we expect from house music, forcing us to notice and critically examine the music rather than just letting it move through us.
