Dance Roundup Week of 12/29

As we headed into New Year’s, we entered prime time for dance music. Here’s some of the last dance records to come out last year!

Vs. You by Aneuryst

Aneuryst arrives with their debut EP Vs. You, bringing experimental electronics that draw from the raw intensity of hardcore and industrial music. Inspired and relentless, the group plays around with giant soundscapes as they bring together blastbeats and sharp, distorted synths alongside dreamy synth washes to create a very satisfying and raw energy.

Next, I want you to forget what you would do if your girlfriend was a worm, and imagine for a moment that YOU are the worm! 幻想虫 by Callasoiled sounds like a bug rave inside a cocoon, with crisp percussion and sweeping synths evoking a strong feeling of nature. These subtle green elements grow into deeper, more complex dance tracks each with their own unique sound. Pleasantly the project’s organicism doesn’t dampen any of it’s danceability, and the pacing is lovely to boot. No notes!

1000dB Stare by HomeSick

A brand new mini-LP from HomeSick, 1000dB Stare is energetic post-house with a ton of references to subgenres across electronic music and beyond. A wide array of influences paired with insanely interesting ornamentation means there’s something for everybody, but the project still carries its own unique voice.
