Nos Habet Caramel by El Kontessa

Nos Habet Caramel by El Kontessa

We’ve talked a bit about people using traditional instruments from their local region as samples on electronic albums, and this is one of the best examples of that we’ve seen so far. Nos Habet Caramel by El Kontessa flips Egyptian pop music on its head, prying its components apart to examine each of them out of context. Each time a new instrument or sample is introduced, El Kontessa dwells upon it for several seconds at least, calling attention to its natural sound. Previously unheard components of grandiose wall-of-sound productions take center stage, bathing in the spotlight for their individual solo performances. Though what we have here may not necessarily be perfect for dancing, I still think this EDM-adjacent LP is totally worth your time this week.
