Fol Na​ï​s by ni is an excitingly unstable experimental project that promises just under an hour of jagged and intense nonstop sound. With an anxious and in-your-face approach, ni downright refuses to fit in any one category as they explore techniques in black metal, avante-garde jazz, math rock, psychedelic prog metal, and more across this 10-track run. Despite its angularity and disparate arrangements, the group sounds totally unified in its chaos as they move fluidly alongside otherworldly electronic effects, growing increasingly unstable before glitching out entirely, melting into jazzy interludes that offer a brief sense of respite. Fol Na​ï​s manages to sound avante-garde and classic all at once, a shining achievement for a lot of experimental projects.
