INSIDE NOSIE: Prelude to Ecstasy by The Last Dinner Party
With a powerful aesthetic and the chops to back it up, The Last Dinner Party has arrived with Prelude to Esctasy. Bringing a goth-tinged new wave sound to indie rock, the album is extremely refreshing and totally transcends other artists in this lane imo. Deeply vulnerable lyrics cut right to the heart alongside swimming synths and dark guitars, delivering powerful baroque art pop along the lines of Kate Bush, Florence Wlech, Cocteau Twins, and early MUNA. The Last Dinner Party truly walks the walk, bringing an element of romantic yet frustrated spirituality in the form of soaring vocal harmony and subtle acoustic instrumentation. It's been a long time since I was gripped by an indie pop album like this and I hope this inspires the genre in the future. STRONG 8/10
