madre misericordia by Necesito el valor tanto como necesito el miedo
If you were happy with the Duster resurgence a couple years ago, you’ll be happy to hear that the indie scene still produces heartbreaking lo-fi slowcore in ample quantity and quality. For proof of this continued production, we turn to madre misericordia by necesito el valor tanto como necesito el miedo, an understated, underproduced album fueled by highly concentrated melancholy. Detuned, dueling guitars, the occasional sparse electronic percussion, and deeply depressive vocal delivery exude intimacy from start to finish. With such lo-fi production and limited instrumentation, our minds conjure an image of an artist possessed with emotion, forced from beyond their reason and control to exorcize these demons with any meager tools available. Placed so close to the action during such a cathartic release, we immediately internalize this music as the soundtrack to our own latent discontent, putting our lives under a microscope and illuminating any unnoticed sources of stagnation and depression.
