METAL ROUNDUP Week of 9/8
Here’s our roundup of the best underground metal records that came out (more or less) this week!
Mazzaroth by Sodomisery
Even if the phrase “technical death metal” brings you negative feelings, I urge you to give this one a try. Unlike a lot of records in that cohort, Mazzaroth by Sodomisery comes along with some deep atmosphere and genuine heaviness.
Gnawing on Scraps by Hacksaw Homicide
We’re a little late on talking about Gnawing on Scraps by Hacksaw Homicide, but we didn’t do one of these roundups last week anyway. If you like your metal records solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short, give this one a shot for the thrilling cross between deep registers and fast speeds.
Medicine Horse by Medicine Horse
Normally, heavy metal isn’t my cup of tea either, but Cherokee old school metal act Medicine Horse really comes through with their self-titled record. There’s genuine heartfelt emotion in these varied vocals, and the band avoids the flashiness that gives this subgenre a bad name.
Helvetinkone by Seilunvihollinen
Last but not least, Helvetinkone by Sielunvihollinen gives us hard-hitting black n roll, showing us that tremolo doesn’t always have to be symphonic.
