In every facet of life and every corner of the world, we witness emergency, confronted constantly by the results of generational irresponsibility and inhuman decision-making. (Optical Photoconduct[or) Through His Eyes] EP by cori&her tells the overwhelming story of our contemporary apocalypse, blending retrofuturism, musical theater, and cutting-edge progressive songwriting to paint an outrageous yet believable picture of our everyday lives. Extreme pacing defines every moment of this record, peppering even the slowest and tenderest moments with hyperactive synth arpeggios, with more energetic sections enduring an inhumanly fast electronic drum kit and unnaturally rapid vocal melodies. Combining this pace with a tightly segmented writing style of distinctive voices nervously telling disjointed narratives results in a metamodern theater production of epic proportions, capturing the panic of a world on fire mixed with the hopelessness of a lone firefighter. In these last moments with enough lucidity to assemble a narrative of any kind, we break down laughing at ourselves in the mirror, taking one last soliloquy before finally detaching from our failed reality.
