An Conc Mor by Moundabout

An Conc Mor by Moundabout

Gazing out into Irish hill country, the members of Moundabout thought of ways to turn our modern-day understanding of land on its head. By inhabiting the minds of the first ever people to witness these ancient mountains, Moundabout expresses in their new record An Cnoc Mor the sense of wonder and respect that these travelers would have felt. The album makes abundant use of Irish folk instruments and sounds, and the record’s pulsing, meditative structure evokes a leisurely, awestruck walk through the hills. There’s no shying away from pagan imagery here, as Moundabout celebrates those in the past who celebrated their surroundings. Seeing land as this miraculously vast, beautiful resource that we only have limited permission to use makes us avoid the worst offenses of human excess. An Cnoc Mor unlocks our natural love for what we’ve been given, opening our eyes to the sublimity we often take for granted.
