Perpetual Morphosis by Dustin Wong

Perpetual Morphosis by Dustin Wong

For intensely creative people, the inability to purely and fully transcribe thoughts onto their medium will endlessly frustrate. No album flawlessly reflects the mind of the maker, but people like Dustin Wong at least give a glimpse at what it’s like to get really close. His new record, Perpetual Morphosis, shows us the full extent of his abilities on the guitar and in the producer’s chair as he executes these brilliantly detailed concepts. Pulling a bit from musique concrete, Perpetual Morphosis constantly crosses paths with fleeting sounds and themes, ideas that pay Wong a brief visit before disappearing back into the ether. Wong’s plucky, tappy guitar contrasts sharply with the aesthetic quilt made up of his heavily modified voice,  some endlessly satisfying synthesizers, and other mysterious sounds. For a moment, the failures of communication break down, and we experience life in another consciousness for a rare moment.
