Foam Set by Pet Wife

Foam Set by Pet Wife

No matter how much you develop independently, a portion of yourself will always remain unfinished, waiting out in the cold for the touch of another wanderer. Glitch pop collective Pet Wife with their new record Foam Set explores love as the fulfillment of an essential lack, as an interaction that requires an uncomfortable amount of vulnerability, always teetering on the edge of codependence. An 80s pop production sensibility runs headlong into hypnotic, psychedelic tendencies, shining through a glitchy prism to tell a story of rebirth through love. Segments of angelic vocals and flowery instrumentals contrast sharply with more gothic moments, showing us love in both a euphoric, fulfilled state and a depressive, drained state. Despite these worries of burdening their partner with their own unresolved troubles, the speaker on Foam Set feels this love as a spiritual requirement, so much so that to abandon this two-faced embrace becomes unthinkable. From this intertwining emerges growth and development, not into people without problems, but into stronger, healthier, deeper souls with more capacity to take on life’s challenges.
