Godflesh deliveres pure doom and gloom on their first new release in 5 years. Merging sludgey, distorted riffs with head-nodding hip-hop beats, longtime Godflesh listeners will definitely appreciate this record. If you want to enjoy some bad vibes while still grooving and having a great time, this industrial-flavored release is a good one! 8/10. - Kaylen
The Age of Pleasure is Monáe's fifth album release, serving as a satisfying follow-up to 2018's Dirty Computer. Where Dirty Computer was conflict-heavy and arduous, The Age of Pleasure is a victory shout, reveling in a sense of self-freedom in a way that feels uncomplicated by comparison. Monáe's trademark style of pop Afrofuturism paired with unapologetic queer ecstasy returns in full force, driven forward by shuffling tropical beats throughout. This album is compact, coming in at just 32 minutes with each song flowing effortlessly from one to the other. The Age of Pleasure is the perfect soundtrack to your hot girl summer 2023 :) 8/10 - Carrie
We got new material from Pittsburgh garage rock group Feeble Little Horse this week with their album Girl with Fish. Delightfully fun, bright, and energetic, this record brings us playful yet heartfelt lyrics backed by radio-ready guitar leads that make everything about this project endlessly consumable. This band hinges upon their vocalist, with all rhythmic and melodic energy being concentrated upon strengthening her already bold vocal performances, elevating feeble little horse to indie pop heights. I'd love to see some more recognition for this band in the future. 7/10. - Michael
Next up is an hour and a half of new material from Christine and the Queens, returning with his signature soft synth-pop sound in a record called PARANOIA, ANGELS, TRUE LOVE. You know what you're getting here, some powerful vocals, layered instrumentals, and generally dark aesthetics. While everything on here sounds uniformly good and well-written, the sound gets a bit repetitive, as Chris mostly fails to justify the record's immense runtime. He's got some great features on here and some other tricks up his sleeve to spice things up, but the long-windedness of his songwriting ends up getting the best of him in the end. 5/10. - Julia
