Love Is Yes by Love Is Yes
A lonely cast of characters roams an uncomfortable world, their song falling on deaf ears as we watch with intense, empathetic pity. Releasing a series of photos and videos alongside their new self-titled album, Dutch avant-garde group Love Is Yes provides us with all the tools necessary to enter and explore their exotic yet familiar fantasy. Lo-fi synth backgrounds pair extremely well with the broadly stroked pastel skies of the images, all while more pointed synths, guitars, and abstract human voices enact the drama on stage. Loves Is Yes paints us into the story of someone drowning in mundanity, slowly losing their ability to daydream as more and more flickering images of the everyday invade their sacred imagination. Where dramatically creative characters still exist in this world, their environment responds to them as a wish fulfillment mechanism for the dreamer, cloaking them in comfort when they get lost and spinning them into the same repetitive routines that the dreamer loathes in their own life. One day, the two images will collapse into one reality, leaving us stranded within our own perspective as we watch our lives burn to the end of their wick.
