Metal Roundup Week of 4/12
It’s Monday and we’re back with another Metal Roundup already!
Infinite Mortality by Replicant
We’re starting off with technical death metal act Replicant and their new record Infinite Mortality. Already the subject of much deserved praise, this release explores themes of loss and suffering, channeled through serpentine song structures into pained, guttural vocals and primitive in-your-face riffs. Uniquely chaotic and dissonant, Infinite Mortality sets Replicant in a league of their own.
Endless Witchcraft by Demonslaught 666
Up next, I was blown away by Endless Witchcraft, the full length debut from Chinese blackened thrash metal band Demonslaught 666. With demented, blood-curdling screams and face-melting drum solos, this insane debut shines a spotlight on a burgeoning international scene that often gets overlooked.
Cypher by Crown of Asteria
Finally, experimental metal band Crown of Asteria channel the primal forces of decay on their new record Cypher. A psychedelic descent into darkness, this droney release invokes reverent, ritualistic atmospheres that slowly build in complexity and intensity until all hell breaks loose.
