Horror Vacui by 9T Antiope
What makes the difference between a house and a home? Is it the people, the decor, the memories, the building itself- or is it time that separates the two? Once the house is empty of life, mementos gathering dust on shelves, can it truly be considered a home? Horror Vacui by 9T Antiope is an album that very intentionally toes the line when exploring duality with an old house at its center, a revolving door of visitors representing the fixture of change that binds together the new and old. Under the watchful eye of time the project is eerily subtle, led by warm, intimate vocals that shift on a dime from angelic to intense. Pop melodies grounded in the duo’s Middle Eastern roots are paired with unique string arrangements and electronic overtones, all these elements combined producing an incredible work of abstract freak folk that is as comforting as it is haunting.
