Nuntis by She the Throne
Amorality courses through the veins of board rooms across the planet. Artificial intelligence intensifies the profit motive, removing empathy and other such inefficiencies. Wherever this car is going, it’s not slowing down, so we better start getting to know our destination. In Nuntis by She the Throne, the insanity of our current trajectory emerges via a series of oppressive industrial saw synths, explosive percussion, intense dynamic shifts, and unsettlingly accessible sung vocals. She the Throne leans into that creepy feeling that you’re being watched, being laughed at, being taken advantage of, placing us in the shoes of the helpless final girl in a horror movie. At a crawling pace, unearthly noise pounds away at our will to resist, leaving us eventually incapable of any response but the mindless screaming we hear at the end of the record. In our final moments, we look up, expecting to see the boot of the enemy. Instead we find nothing but an asymmetric, faceless, invisible force, emerging from all directions yet always pushing us down, down, down. -Michael
