Shelf Life by Animal Hospital

Animal Hospital returns with Shelf Life, a set of bright and nostalgic vignettes. The songs start off rather restrained, a simple repeating melody. Then, like a mountain forming over layers and layers of sediment, each repetition adds an element of some sort, maybe a new harmony or instrument or synth buzzing, the sound of a door creaking. The individual ideas evolve together to create massive and compelling movements over the course of the track before fading away just as effortlessly as they built. Despite building an immense sense of space, Shelf Life doesn’t get lost in the noise, remaining grounded and hypnotic with Animal Hospital’s deeply thoughtful approach to eclecticism. - Carrie
