Полуденный ужас by Отречение Петра
Nihilism has an air of finality about it, often subconsciously accepted as the natural endpoint of philosophy and culture from which no sustained escape appears. Полуденный ужас by Отречение Петра (Peter’s Denial) follows our protagonist on a daring quest to exit the nihilist void, writhing in spiritual discomfort as starvation wracks the soul. This 90s style screamo/post-hardcore album naturally flows between whispery guitar twinkles and furious distorted chugging, carrying over chord structures, melodic motifs, and rhythmic riffs to maintain consistency. However, as the album continues, greater gulfs open between the sections of intense energetic release, taking the story down a frighteningly dark turn. Near the end, we hardly see any cathartic release at all, a sign that the remaining off ramps from this accelerating nihilist superhighway come fewer and further between. By the end of our journey, we learn that the energy we have spent to change our course only increased our speed, intensifying this unvirtuous cycle and potentially locking us in this spiritual desert forever.
