Satan and the Dying Baby by Antibroth
If you’ve been tempted to try your hand at the current wave of post punk, listen up. Your genre has been severely fucked up by sweaty guys who want to be Idles, but Denver math rock outfit Antibroth may have just paved the way out of this creative rut. Bridging the gap between prog, hardcore, and good ol’ post punk, Satan and the Dying Baby has me convinced that this sound still has more to offer to us before we discard it for the next big thing. This record will have you dancing, even if that dance has you tripping over your feet with all of the irregular time signatures. For those who aren’t the dancing type, Antibroth seasons their creation with earwormy shout choruses, which feel much more satisfying in the context of a band that neatly tucks every vocal lead into a rhythmic pocket.
