This one may be the most disturbingly embodied album you’ve ever heard. The Elusive Flexure by Joseph Hammer, Joe Potts, and John Wiese is a sound collage that makes ample use of some extremely vulgar bodily samples, many of which feel disgusting for no particular reason. Even at its noisiest, this album feels alive, its breath constantly transitioning between states of calm, exertion, and arousal. Whereas many of the albums we cover on here force you to think, this one forces you to feel, and these feelings dig deeper than emotions, Listening to this record will force you to feel the blood moving through your veins; in other words, this is a great meditative exercise in simply existing as a body. Through such direct confrontation, we may more completely come to terms with our bodies, carefully learning the essence of what it means to be organic.
