Violence by Truck Violence
Within the walls of an old wooden church, the Western Canadian prairie collapses into a claustrophobic prison, an impenetrable fortress that strangles greatness, presenting self-destruction as the only means of escape. Violence by Truck Violence presents a shockingly honest, transparent view of this oft-romanticized region, showing the chain of effects after governments, corporations, and even locals give up on a place indefinitely. An experimental hardcore approach with heavy western folk influences immerses us in this endless sea of grasses, presenting a massive, heavy sound crowned with varied, deeply emotional vocals. Within this oppressive cage of deep sky, paranoia grips the speaker’s lyrical poetry, dripping with guilt at perceived personal shortcomings such as substance abuse, all of which culminates in an existential anxiety of being lost to history. The environment serves self-destruction on a silver platter, and the speaker tears themselves apart for partaking, laying bare this pointless guilt that accelerates this damaging cycle, begging us to break the same chain in ourselves before we disintegrate completely.
