Aporia by Sissi Rada

Aporia by Sissi Rada

We think of journaling as a process of cataloging our personal histories, but what if this process of creating a historical record actually creates us? A new alternative pop record called Aporia by Sissi Rada investigates our struggle to create ourselves, sonically stitching together poems about random, disconnected life experiences to turn them into a narrative. Fans of Jockstrap have a lot to look forward to on this album, as the record’s prominent harp and string orchestral sounds unify smoothly with synths, samples, and drum machines to elevate the drama held within silky vocals. This understated aesthetic and freeform rhythmic and melodic sensibilities act as a stand-in for the person who reacts to all of these life experiences, slowly forming themselves into a cohesive aesthetic that processes poetry into something greater, turning words on a journal page into a person who we feel as if we know face-to-face.
