Split by Spectral Voice and Undergang

If you’ve been missing out on the current wave of death metal, now’s your time to buy in. This new split LP from Denmark’s Undergang and Colorado’s Spectral Voice offers a great view into this genre at its best. Undergang’s side brings me everything I want out of death metal: plenty of riffing without any self-gratifying guitar solos, along with vocals that blend perfectly with the sound. Spectral Voice’s half, in contrast, utilizes a low-and-slow sound to create an extremely heavy composition. Listening to Spectral, you immediately picture a kid going absolutely bananas in someone’s basement, moshing so hard they break the pipes overhead. This one’s a great release on a gem of a metal label; do yourself a favor and use this as an opportunity to discover both of these fantastic bands.
